Layered One-dish Salad

You could easily add any pasta such as macaroni or orzo,
(just to name two) to this recipe for variety to the one-dish salads theme.

head lettuce, shredded
|
|
|
1/2 cup
|
|
celery, chopped
|
|
|
1/2 cup
|
|
green pepper, chopped
|
|
|
1/2 cup
|
|
onion, sliced
|
|
|
1

|
package frozen peas
|
|
|
Topping:
|
|
|
2 cups
|
|
mayonnaise
|
|
|
2 Tbs
|
|
sugar
|
|
|
1 cup
|
|
Cheddar cheese, grated
|
|
|

|
slices bacon, fried and crumble (or
bacon bits)
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Layer vegetables in a 9x13 inch pan. Sprinkle with
sugar. Spread mayonnaise over top of salad, covering completely. Sprinkle cheese and bacon on top. Cover and
refrigerate. Best when made the day ahead. Note: you could also add sliced or chopped egg in a
layer.

Yield: 4-8 depending on side dish or main
